Qatar Participates in the 27th Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Post and Telecommunications

The State of Qatar participated in the 27th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Post and Telecommunications, held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the presence of Their Excellencies, Ministers of Communications and Information Technology of the GCC States. Qatar's delegation was headed by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, along with a group of officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA).

During the course of the meeting an agreement was made to bring together a working group headed by the State of Qatar to go over the measures that must be taken on the establishment of unlicensed wireless networks that are used for mining cryptocurrencies. The Ministerial Committee also followed up on the implementation of the resolutions of the 26th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Post and Telecommunications as well as discussing the outcomes of the 29th meeting of the GCC Committee for Under-Secretaries of Post and Telecommunications, which was held on February 2, 2023.

Commenting on the participation of the State of Qatar in the meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Post and Telecommunications, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, expressed the importance of the topics presented to the Ministerial Committee and the need to proceed with their implementation. His Excellency also highlighted the importance of strengthening the bonds of the joint effort between GCC States.

The participation of the State of Qatar in Gulf meetings specialized in the ICT and Postal sectors comes to enhance cooperation and exchange opinions, experiences, and recommendations to unify the efforts between GCC States in a manner that contributes to the development of these vital sectors.
