HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Participates in High-Level Meetings and Activities at the Doha Forum 2024
- HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology took part in high-level meetings and activities at the Doha Forum 2024, engaging with international leaders and officials.
- HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Center, a joint initiative between the Ministry of Finance and the World Economic Forum.
- HE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aimed at enhancing the use of technology to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
HE Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, participated in a series of high-level meetings and activities during the 22nd edition of the Doha Forum 2024, held on December 7–8 under the theme "The Innovation Imperative." Discussions focused on Qatar's strategic initiatives to promote digital transformation and innovation, strengthen international partnerships, and support sustainable development.
During the forum, HE Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, and HE Mr. Achim Steiner, United Nations Development Programme Administrator, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and UNDP. The MoU aims to leverage technology to achieve the SDGs and enhance the use of digital tools to build capacities and foster comprehensive progress both nationally and globally.
As part of the forum’s activities, His Excellency attended the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) inauguration ceremony, a collaborative project between the Ministry of Finance and the World Economic Forum. HE the Minister emphasized the importance of this initiative in driving innovation and fostering economic diversification.
On the sidelines of the forum's first day, His Excellency met with HE Mr. Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Discussions centred on strengthening ties between Qatar and Kazakhstan in the ICT sector and exploring opportunities for collaboration in digital infrastructure and innovation.
On the second day, His Excellency met with HE Ms. Deemah AlYahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO). Their discussions focused on enhancing digital cooperation among member states, with a particular emphasis on positioning the Gulf region as a leader in the global digital economy.
Additionally, His Excellency held a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Jose W. Fernandez, US Undersecretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment. Their dialogue explored strategic partnerships between Qatar and the United States, focusing on economic growth, energy, environmental sustainability, and advancing digital innovation.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's participation in the Doha Forum 2024 underscores its commitment to fostering digital innovation and international collaboration to achieve a sustainable and progressive future. The Doha Forum highlights its role as a strategic platform that brings together global decision-makers and experts to discuss the impact of modern technology in supporting inclusive development and enhancing global partnerships, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
