HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Inaugurates MCIT Pavilion “Smart Qatar” at the Expo 2023 Doha

HE Mohammed Bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, inaugurated the “Smart Qatar” Pavilion at the Expo 2023 Doha, in the presence of several dignitaries and senior officials from the State.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is participating in the international horticultural exhibition through leading programs, such as "Smart Qatar" and "Studio 5," and the hosting of Expo Doha for Smart Cities 2023 in November. The pavilion reflects a unique blend of innovation and tradition, where cutting-edge technology harmonises with authentic Qatari culture. Measuring 13 x 13 metres and towering at 12.4 metres in height, the pavilion offers visitors a deep exploratory experience that narrates the captivating story of Smart Qatar, inviting them to explore the richness of Arab culture.

The tower's design, featuring ten levels with seven bricks in each row and constructed from 75 individually 3D printed pieces, serves as a testament to the harmonious collaboration of diverse talents and the transformation of an ambitious vision into a tangible reality. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Pavilion, “Smart Qatar”, has achieved a Guinness World Record for being the 'Tallest Freestanding 3D-Printed Concrete Structure'

The pavilion features rotating experiences, ensuring a fresh and engaging encounter throughout the Expo's six months. Monthly updates introduce new content and stories to captivate and educate visitors continuously. Inspired by the desert's beauty and sustainable technology, the pavilion's design boasts warm colours and organic forms.

To add a special edition for the younger generation, the MCIT is also represented in Expo 2023 Doha through Studio 5, which is designed to nurture digital learners among children and youth, fostering problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation skills. Daily workshops, panels, and hackathons at the Innovation Center within the International Zone will be provided free of charge to the community throughout the Expo’s period.

On this monumental occasion, HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology said, "This Guinness World Record is not just a symbol of innovation and achievement, but a testament to Qatar's commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and collaboration and utilising them within our daily life. The MCIT Pavilion embodies Qatar’s technological advancement, where tradition and technology harmoniously coexist to address global challenges. It is a beacon of inspiration for us all."

In collaboration with Fira Barcelona, organisers of the Smart City Expo World Congress, MCIT proudly presents the third edition of Smart City Expo Doha, scheduled for 29-30 November. This event, themed "A World of Data: Connecting People, Elevating Lives," aims to build upon the successes of previous editions, which attracted high-level guests, ministers, diplomats, and field specialists from around the world. Smart City Expo Doha continues to foster international discussions on urban development, focusing on solutions for today's challenges. Topics include Green Urban Environments, Digital Governance, and Cognitive Cities and Liveable Places, which all offer a platform to share projects, policies, and initiatives while exploiting opportunities and addressing challenges cities face in the digital era.

MCIT actively contributes to Expo 2023 Doha, an event aligned with Qatar's National Vision 2030, focusing on sustainability and innovation. The Pavilion represents MCIT's dedication to technology-driven solutions, supporting sustainability efforts for Qatar's residents, businesses, and visitors.
