HE the MCIT Minister: The Digital Agenda 2030 Outlines Qatar’s Plan for Comprehensive Digital Transformation

HE Mr Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, took part in the closing day of Web Summit Qatar 2024, in a panel discussion titled “Qatar’s Plan for the Digital Future”, which focused on the key developments in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector as well as the outlines for the digital innovation plan in the State of Qatar for the next five years.

HE the MCIT Minister pointed out to the significance of the Digital Agenda 2030 in promoting knowledge-based digital economy and boosting digital transformation across industries. The panel discussion also highlighted the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the success of the Summit and the role of both SMEs and the private sector in bolstering the national digital economy.

HE Mr Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai further asserted, during the panel discussion, on the six pillars of the Digital Agenda 2030, namely digital infrastructure, digital government, digital economy, digital technologies, digital innovation and digital society, and how these pillars will contribute to the empowerment of the State of Qatar in accelerating technology adoption, realizing digital economic growth, promoting innovation, providing outstanding government services, developing robust database and enabling the society to flourish in a growing digital world.

HE the MCIT Minister also affirmed the role of the Digital Agenda 2030 in driving the State of Qatar towards becoming a global technological hub adopting the latest digital technologies, including 5G networks, artificial intelligence (AI), digital twin, cloud computing and big data towards the realization of the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy in order to develop knowledge-based digital economy that is both diverse and competitive, supports the private sectors, and depends on innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Digital Agenda enhances the effectiveness of the digital economy and society and accelerates the pace of economic transformation and competitive efficiency. This is achieved through the adoption of innovative digital strategies that prioritize inclusivity and foster sustainable prosperity in the digital era. The 2030 Digital Agenda embodies an ambitious vision aimed at building a prosperous Qatari future through the comprehensive digital transformation of services.

Speaking about green and clean technology, HE the MCIT Minister said that the State of Qatar draws plans based on its digital future, while giving priority to digitization, being the cornerstone of realizing national development. Qatar has great potential to adopt clean technology, such as the abundance in renewable energy, particularly solar energy. HE added that the use of AI, cloud computing and big data will serve the way all sectors operate and reduce the costs of operation and maintenance, thus, making it more effective.
