The Digital Incubation Center Incubates 25 New Digital Startups
The Digital Incubation Center (DIC), affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has announced 25 digital startups that won the opportunity to be incubated by the DIC in the closing ceremony of the seventh edition of the Creative Ideas Camp, held on Wednesday, June 21st, in the presence of Ms. Eman Al Kuwari, Director of Digital Innovation Department, and representatives of Digital Incubation Center partners from inside and outside Qatar, as well as entrepreneurs who were selected to participate in the camp.
The Idea Camp competition lasted for six weeks, starting from the beginning of May, and achieved remarkable success in all its stages. 41 qualified startups out of 340 applicants competed and presented their projects to a specialized judging panel consisting of representatives from MCIT, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar Science and Technology Park, Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Foundation, Innovation Café, Snoonu, and Ibtkar Company.
During the ceremony, the company "Tarbawi" won first place receiving a prize worth 150,000 Qatari riyals, while the company "Tools" achieved second place with a prize worth 100,000 Qatari riyals. In third place came the company "Youn Harvest" which received a prize worth 50,000 Qatari riyals. Furthermore, during the closing ceremony, the names of the winning companies in the seventh edition of the Creative Ideas Camp competition were announced. They are: Tarbawi, Tools, Young Harvest, Harf Esem, ZajelSend, MTawreed, Abjad, Revive, Imtiyazaat, Autowmater, Plan Click, Envirocle, Second Opinion, Alwafee, AlMaqsef Project, InvestMate, Darb, Maksaby, AR-LOOP, Umami, Nasa’a, legal services, Darb, Tarjama, and Smart Health Tech.
Ms. Eman Al Kuwari expressed her happiness during her speech at the ceremony about the successful companies in the Digital Incubation Center. She emphasized the importance of emerging digital companies as key contributors to economic growth and job creation. Ms. Al Kuwari highlighted the vital role these companies play in diversifying the Qatari economy by providing innovative solutions to society and contributing to the achievement of Qatar's National Vision 2030. Additionally, she expressed her admiration for the quality of the participants' projects and expressed her interest in monitoring their progress.
The ideas shared at IdeaCamp varied, encompassing different fields such as education, healthcare, sustainability, transportation, advanced analytics, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence. The winning startups in the competition will receive support and guidance from the Digital Incubation Center, in addition to office space for two years and a package of free digital services provided by the DIC's partners.
It is worth mentioning that the Digital Incubation Center affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has been a nurturing ground for nearly 270 startups since its establishment in 2011, with 165 companies completing their incubation journey. The incubated startups have also secured over 221 million Qatari riyals in investments, which is a testament to the success and effectiveness of the Digital Incubation Center programs.
